Privacy Policy

Deco.me ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other applicable South African privacy legislation. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

Account information: your name and email address when you register.

Emailed quiz results: if you ask us to email your quiz result without creating an account, we store your email address solely to send you that result. We do not use it for marketing.

Quiz responses: your answers to the design personality quiz, used to generate your style profile.

Uploaded photos: room images you upload for AI analysis. These are processed and stored securely.

Payment information: transaction records (amount, date, pack purchased). We do not store card numbers — payments are handled by PayFast.

Usage data: how you interact with the App (pages visited, features used) to improve the service.

To provide and personalise the Deco.me service, to process your credit purchases and maintain your account balance, to communicate important updates about the service, to improve the App based on anonymised usage patterns, and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with PayFast, to process payments securely; AI service providers, to generate design analyses (your images are processed but not stored by third-party AI providers beyond the analysis request); and legal authorities, if required by law or court order.

Room photos you upload are used solely to generate your personalised design analysis. They are stored securely and are not shared publicly, sold, or used to train AI models without your explicit consent. You may request deletion of your uploaded photos at any time by contacting us.

We keep personal information only as long as we need it. Your account data and quiz results are retained while your account is active.

Room analyses and their photos are automatically and permanently deleted 6 months after you last open them. We email you a reminder before deletion, and opening the room resets this period. This keeps your most sensitive data — your home photos — from being stored longer than you actually use it.

Anonymous "email me my result" requests are deleted after 30 days, and technical logs within 90 days. Payment records are retained for 5 years as required by South African financial law, after which they are anonymised.

If you delete your account, we remove your personal data immediately (including your uploaded photos), except payment records we are legally required to keep, which are anonymised.

Under POPIA, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of your personal information, object to the processing of your information, and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We may use anonymised analytics to understand how users navigate the App. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure data storage. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Deco.me is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us and we will promptly remove the account.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
